About Our Team

Creating Lush Landscapes Together

Superior Turf began on a family farm in Wilberforce, in Sydney’s Hawkesbury region. What started as a small turf-growing operation has grown into one of the most trusted turf suppliers servicing the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, now proudly operating across three generations.

Every roll of turf is still grown and harvested from the same Wilberforce farm. There are no middlemen, warehouses, or turf sitting on trucks for days. When you order from Superior Turf, your turf is cut fresh and delivered directly to your site, ensuring the best possible start for your new lawn.

For more than three decades, Superior Turf has supplied quality turf to thousands of homes, schools, sporting fields, commercial properties, and landscaping projects throughout the Illawarra and Shoalhaven. From coastal blocks in Wollongong and Shellharbour to family homes in Nowra and the South Coast, the team understands the local conditions that influence lawn performance.

That combination of generations of growing expertise and local knowledge allows Superior Turf to recommend the right turf varieties for the region’s unique mix of coastal exposure, clay soils, shade, heat, and high-traffic conditions. It's the kind of experience that large retailers and interstate suppliers simply can't offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What locations do you service?

We provide landscape supplies throughout Wollongong and surrounding areas, including:

  • How soon can new turf be walked on?

New turf needs time to establish roots before it can handle regular foot traffic. It should be kept moist for the first few weeks, with heavy use avoided during this time. Light watering and gentle care in the early stages make a real difference to how quickly a lawn settles.

  • What turf varieties are available?

Options include Sir Walter Buffalo, Kikuyu, Sapphire Buffalo, Couch and Tahoma, each suited to different needs. Shade-tolerant lawns, high-traffic backyards and busy sports fields all call for something different. Aaron can help match the right variety to soil type, sun exposure and how the lawn will be used.

  • How much notice is needed for turf delivery?

Turf can usually be delivered within 2 to 3 business days of placing an order. If it's needed sooner, Aaron can be reached directly by phone. The team stays flexible with scheduling, even during the busiest periods, and can often move deliveries around to get turf out a bit sooner.

  • How is a site prepared before laying new turf?

Preparation starts with clearing existing grass, weeds and debris, then levelling the ground to prevent pooling and uneven growth. Quality soil is added as a foundation, followed by a final rake to break up any clumps. Superior Turf can handle every step, or connect clients with a trusted soil supplier.

  • Where does the turf come from?

It's sourced fresh from a family-run turf farm in the Hawkesbury region, well known for producing some of the best turf in all of New South Wales. This means healthier, fresher turf with better establishment rates, backed by a supplier relationship built over more than a decade of steady trade.

  • Does Superior Turf lay the turf as well as deliver it?

Yes, Superior Turf offers a complete end-to-end service covering delivery, site preparation and professional laying. The team handles clearing, levelling, laying in a staggered pattern, trimming the edges around paths and garden beds, and watering the turf in, delivering a lush, healthy lawn without any of the physical work involved.
